It’s not just sporting activities that the Broadsword team likes to get involved with outside of the office. Our marketing guru Lee (who is coming towards the end of his one year internship with us) has recently taken the initiative to set up a DIY Record label.
Keep Pop Loud Records recently announced some of the details of their first ever release: a limited edition compilation CD.
Although the full tracklisting has yet to be revealed, some of the names so far may ring some bells for those who’ve kept an ear to the musical ground over the past few years. Cult songwriter MJ Hibbett is contributing a brand new composition entitled ‘2000AD Nans’, whilst mid-00’s hit-makers Dogs Die In Hot Cars have been kind enough to let Lee use a song called ‘Beauty US’ from their ill-fated second album sessions. Other names on the CD include Bordeauxxx, The Half Rabbits, Kidnapper Bell, The Winter Olympics and Sheffield based popsters Screaming Maldini.
“I’m really happy with the track list so far. I’m really grateful that all of these fantastic bands have been kind enough to let me use their music to help launch the record label and I’m really hoping to be able to work with some of them again” said Lee.
But that’s not all. The sleeves for the 100 copies of the CD are going to be uniquely hand-made from second hand clothes in a way that we’re sure is going to earn him recognition from the wider music community.
“I wanted to do something different with the package and make sure that it was something that people would want to own as well as having amazing music. I’m sure that people will love it and am really looking forward to announcing the full list of songs
I don’t think that I’d have been able to do this if it hadn’t been for the support in my career that I’ve received in my year with Broadsword, so I’ve really got a lot to thank them for”
We wish Lee the best of luck with this project and we’re sure that it’ll be a massive success.
